I can’t believe it my book is finally out! It’s been a long time in the making. If you’d asked me 20 years ago if I was ever going to write a book I would have said emphatically “no.” But after being drawn into debates over the history of the First Amendment I undertook years of research and writing lots of blog posts on the subject, which took me down the long road of writing a book. Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and Dissenters in Virginia: Unlikely Allies for Religious Freedom is the first of a two-volume series. My next one, which should be out next year, connects the events in Virginia with the making of the Religion Clauses of the First Amendment.
I couldn’t have done it without the support of my friends and family! And I want to give a special shout out to my friend Dick Miller who did a fantastic job offering suggestions and patiently editing my drafts. Thanks Dick! You rock!!
